Hey there! :)
We’re hoping that this guide will help you make the right choice in buying a sump from us and we hope that we cover everything you need to know :)
While we wish that we could be 100% accurate in telling you if a sump fits, there can be variants for the same vehicle model as a registration plate will only tell us so much.
Before we go in to that, here’s some key information that you need to know :)
Almost all sumps come with sump plugs, please check listing picture for clarification
NONE of our sumps come with gaskets or the bolts to fit, unfortunately we cannot get them
Please check the compatibility table and item specifics as we will often list what models are excluded from being compatible
Check the title of the listing – The year breaks are suuuuper important!
I.e – For Mazda 3 2003-2011 1.4 & 1.6 16v Steel Engine Oil Sump Pan
The item will only fit if it’s within those years, but please be cautious if your year of vehicle is the first or last year (2003 or 20011 for example) as you may need an earlier or later model mirror due to manufacturers changing specification on some models as they are called ‘change-over years’. For example, if you have a 2003, you might need an item UP to 2003, or if you have a 2011, you might need one FROM 2011. Please also note if the title includes the engine size, it will only fit that engine size or sizes. If you’re unsure then please do send us an e-mail with your vehicle registration plate :) It’s better to be safe than sorry.
Please check the pictures for reference
I know this sounds simple but it’s really important to check the images we provide you. We provide a number of pictures to show you the shape of the sump and whether it has a sensor hole or not.
The part number – Part numbers are king! We include original part numbers in every listing in our description and item specifics and it’s really important that this is checked. If you are unable to check this manually then we strongly recommend you give the main dealers a call to try and get it from them.
Right, let’s get to it shall we!
Does your sump have an oil level sensor?
In a lot of cases there will be a variant on the sump as to whether it has an oil level sensor or not.
Here’s an example of how to tell;
Sump WITH an oil level sensor

As you can see, this has a hole which is to fit your oil level sensor :)
Sump WITHOUT an oil level sensor

As you can see, this has a blanking plate with no hole in the sump.
This needs to be checked either manually by looking underneath the car to see if a sensor comes off the sump, or to call the dealer to ask them or obtain the original part number. We cannot confirm via a registration plate, sorry :(
Aluminium or Steel?
The only other variant that you may face with a sump is whether it’s an aluminium or steel sump.
Here’s some pictures to show you the difference :-

As you can see, both listings are for the exact same vehicle make, model and engine size, but one is aluminium and one is steel. This needs to be manually checked or to call the dealer and obtain the original part number :)
We hope this little guide helps you buy correctly!
